Our story
This started with one family, one purchase, and a search for answers that led nowhere.
Opensqft is an independent publication for the built world: news, vetted expert Q&A, and data-driven analysis where every claim is traceable to the evidence behind it.
The problem
Every listing told a different story.
When a family set out to make the biggest purchase of their lives, the first instinct was to research online. What came back was overwhelming. Agent sites promoting their own listings. Forums full of one-off anecdotes. Property portals running articles written by content teams who had never underwritten a deal. Brokers offering conflicting views on the very same market.
The more you searched, the less you understood. And the stakes were too high to guess.
The turning point
So the research started. One deal at a time.
Instead of trusting any single source, the search shifted to the primary record: transaction data, capital-markets reports, and the people who actually invest in, build, and operate real estate. Cross-referencing how analysts in different cities read the very same numbers. Each report took time to read, but slowly, clarity emerged.
Not from a site selling a listing. Not from marketing. From the evidence itself, deal by deal and number by number, comparing what operators in Singapore, the US, Europe, and Asia were finding independently.
The realization
If one family had to go through this, thousands of others were too.
The built world deserved a publication where every claim was traceable to real data, not marketing. Where the evidence was cited so you could check it yourself. Where expert review, when added, was named and credentialed, never assumed.
That is what Opensqft became.
What we stand for
The standards behind every article.
Three commitments that govern how we research, what we publish, and why you can trust the verdict.
- 01
Every claim cited
Every market claim is backed by primary data: transaction records, filings, and research from operators and institutions around the world. Not “the market shows.” Actual numbers, named and linked. Every claim traceable to the evidence that supports it.
- 02
Evidence-first, not authority-first
We are an editorial team, not a brokerage. We don't write from the authority of any single firm. We write from the record: transaction data, capital-markets research, and the published views of people who invest in, build, and operate real estate. Every claim links back to its source so you can verify it yourself. Expert review is our next layer: vetted operators who answer reader questions and are disclosed by name on every piece they touch.
- 03
Zero editorial compromise
No developer owns our editorial. No advertiser shapes what we publish. Revenue comes from subscriptions and directory listings, never from editorial placement. Ever.
Finding trustworthy real-estate insight should not be this hard.
